It has been awhile since I last posted. My schedule has been quite busy, but good.

Today I was reading in Matthew 7:15 & 16, in the King James version, of the Bible. 'Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are raving wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?' So we as Children of God need to display the fruits of the Spirit. What are the fruits of the spirit? Galatians 5:22& 23, 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, [self-control]; against such there is no law.'

God's love to you all

Well we got back from Baton Rouge on Friday, Nov. 3rd. I couldn't get on line, while we were gone, so I am behind in my posting.

The author's party on the 27th, at the state library was interesting. Some came dressed to the nines and others were in casual attire. We met poets, shot story writers, novelists and those who write only factual material. I think that there were agents and publisher's reps there but they kept a low profile. Someone was taking pictures, probably for the newspaper. Besides wine and beer, there was a table with all kinds of food. Tantilizing dip, from shimp to bean, crackers, cold cuts, egg rolls, chips and a dessert table, kept us busy sampling for some time as we circulated, while a stringed musical group played in the background.

The book sales on Saturday were in long tents in front of the library. I was across from Pelican Publishers. Three authors who write children's books, were signing their books. To my right was a library group, to my left a book selling company. They had many different kinds of books, some hard covers and some paperbacks.

Cajun and country bands, entertained as visitors and exhibitors alike satisfied their hunger at the food concessions that offered jambalaya, hot dogs, hamburgers and gumbo. The weather was cooperative. It was a beautiful, sunny day.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Patricia Pomeroy Tanner is a great writer and I enjoyed every word she wrote. How Mercy finds new evidence that reopens her brother's murder case after 10 years shows you strong family ties. Reading how Mercy and Davids love blossoms warmed my heart. I bought four books from her-one for me and my three daughters. And she personally autographed them all! If I could spend my time writing, blogging, reading, playing cards and visiting with my friends, I would love it. But that's not what God expects of me. He says that I am to a keeper of the home...so I do what is necessary and try not to grumble because we read in Colossians 3:23 'Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.' Oh well, such is life. I shouldn't even think about how much I don't like the work. I have it so good. I live a life of blissful retirement in a lovely resort. What more would I want? A maid? No just kidding. I like my privacy too much for that.

This is a Bible verse that I learned when I was about 12 years old. John 3:16 NIV... 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' Notice it doesn't say, if you go to church regularly or if your parents were Christians or if you keep the ten commandments, or if you were baptized or if you pay tithe or if you live a good life or always do your best or donate to charity or take communion or pray or are confirmed or fast or do good works. It says. WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!

God's blessings.

Good afternoon from beautiful Hideaway Ponds Recreational Resort. I am going to do something different today. I came across this blog awhile back and found this post. I thought that it was so good, so I asked the author if I could put it on my blog. She was gracious enough to allow me to copy it. Thanks Leni.

A Woman's Power
Ladies, I've gotta tell you, we have the power in our hands to, at any given moment, to completely make or break our man's day. That's kind of an awesome yet sobering thought. It takes a lot of maturity to not use that power to our advantage. If we'd only use our powers for good...mwahahahaha!!!I was raised to never depend on a man, blah, blah, blah...it surprises me how that thought sneaks in without me even realizing it. I can remember many years ago, during a particularly heated argument, when my husband accused me of manipulating him. I was SO insulted. I think rage-filled was a better term. What he didn't know (and couldn't have known) was how hard I was working on NOT manipulating him. Thing is, I thought I was doing pretty well! ;o) Pride goeth before a fall...Today was one of those occasions that I had the opportunity to bless my husband. I did, and he was SO happy. Thing is, so was I! Did you ever realize that you get blessed by blessing others? Not by gaining something from it, but just by seeing their delight, knowing that you played a hand in brightening their day.I see so many women who seem to delight in knowing that they can crush their man. I really do not see what they enjoy about that. OK, you crushed him, and now you have to live with him, and he thinks less of you. So who won? Don't get me wrong, there are days where that vindictive little voice says, "He may think he got the upper hand, but I'll show him." Please, do not confuse this voice with the "Voice of Reason."Satan will do whatever, whenever he can to tear our marriages apart. It's usually not the big things that get you, it's the little things. The pet peeves that we nurture and hang onto until being right becomes the most important thing. You can talk yourself right into hating your spouse, all because he doesn't put his laundry in the hamper! It starts off with irritation. Then you start to get annoyed that he's so disrespectful. Pretty soon, you feel nothing but contempt for this man who obviously married you to get a slave! Lest you think I'm joking, I know a man who divorced his first wife, whom he loved and continued to have a wonderful friendship with til the day he died. They divorced because she didn't keep a clean enough house, and he just couldn't abide that. Broke up a home with four children over stacks of magazines. I've talked with both of them, at length, and this is TRULY the reason they divorced.Lest you think I'm picking on one or the other, they were both pig-headed! LOL! But it does make me pause and evaluate why certain things bug me so much, and to ask myself if I'm really putting forth as much effort as I could to not push my dh's buttons. If he's really not happy with something, and I'm able to change it, why shouldn't I? Just because 'he can't make me'? Is that going to keep me warm at night?I feel like I really rambled with this post. Sorry about that. I really just wanted to say that I got a huge kick out of making his day today, and I'm looking for opportunities to do it again. Oh, and that doesn't make me a doormat. It makes me a happy wife.
posted by Leni at 3:02 PM 4 comments links to this post

11 Rules
This list is most often attributed to Bill Gates, though research leans towards that being a myth. So enjoy.

RULE 1. Life is not fair - get used to it.

RULE 2. The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feelgood about yourself.

RULE 3. You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with a car phone, until you earn both.

RULE 4. If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn't have tenure.

RULE 5. Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping they called it Opportunity.

RULE 6. If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

RULE 7. Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

RULE 8. Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

RULE 9. Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

RULE 10. Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

RULE 11. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

What is unspeakable joy? It is a feeling that is so powerful, coupled with great contentment. You get up in the morning and you feel so good that you want to do cartwheels up and down the roads but of course you can't do that. Folks with white coats would soon come, and take you away, so you stay in your motor home and PRAISE THE LORD! This kind of unspeakable joy comes from not having anything in your life that separates you from God. The apostle Paul, in the 4th chapter of Philippians, tells you how. [Of course you have to have made a commitment to serve God first.] Philippians 4:8-9 [NIV] Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me-put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. [In other words follow his instructions.]

Today the resort will start to fill up for the Labor Day weekend. Along with all the activities that Salli, the activity director has put together, there will be a dance band, in the club-house, on Saturday night.

I wish that all of you were as full of joy as I am. It is truly the peace that passeth all understanding! Philippians 4:7...[King James version] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We had another great weekend. Students came in, and gave free massages yesterday, and stayed from 2pm until 7 pm. Let me tell you, I think every one who was here got the treatment!

As I said before, this resort has about 1,000 members and most of them live in Louisiana. So they have to call ahead for reservations. The only people who live here is the staff and a few who lease. The leasing has stopped as the membership is growing so fast. There is one other group, the snow birds and they will be arriving after the first of October. A few bring their golf clubs. I'm not a golfer but sometimes I can see the players, at the miniature course, from my site.

I would like to walk more but it has been too hot so I have to use the golf cart to go back and forth. I do swim in the indoor pool.

Go with God.

The sun is shining through the Dollar trees, that border the east side of the resort and grow along the outside of the duck pound. Speaking of ducks, the little ones that I wrote about on a previous post, are now grown up and they are as beautiful as they where when they were duckings. Most of them are still black and white, black on their rears and have some black on their backs but the rest of their bodies are white. They are tame as a lot of the members feed them. There is also an animal pen, that the children love. Right now there are three goats, a parrot named Dexter and several chickens living there. The chickens only go in there to be feed and roost for the night. Rabbits use to live in there but the owner turned them loose, so they roam all over the resort, along with the chickens.

I just got word that are winter camp host, S G, was just diagnosed with lung cancer. Please hold him up in prayer.

I have traveled a great deal in my life. God has greatly blessed me and my family. But when I was a teenager I had a wanderlust heart and so I was lucky to be able to satisfy it, after my children grew up. I have been reluctant to put any of my poems on here, as I plan to publish them in a book one day, but for some reason I wanted to post one that I wrote when I was about fourteen. I was gazing out the window of my study hall and this poem came to me.

OH TO BE A BIRD

Oh to be a bird
And fly or'e ocean deep,
Far across the praire land
And up the mountain, steep.

Oh to be a bird
And fly or'e hill and dale,
Up through the big blue mist
And or'e the clouds asail.

Oh to be a bird.
If mortals could but grow,
Wings that spread out wide
And soar where er'e they go!

Thank you God for allowing me to travel!

Luke 11:9...[King James] And I say to you, Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

My God bless you all!

Good afternoon,

A lady, who lives in the park, had a birthday yesterday. As I make most of the cards for the park and all of our personal cards, I made one for her and took it around to have everyone else sign it. Last evening, the members brought lots of food and we had a big party. The birthday lady was very surprised so it was a bang-up success! They had planned to play po-ke-no. I am not a po-ke-no fan and I usually don't play it but Bob and I filled in for two of them who were running late. We did have lots of fun.

Isaiah 61:11...'As a garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness...to spring forth.' I think we are going to get some rain today.

Yesterday after our chapel service, I did the Bible Story Lady. I use music, puppets, that I had crocheted and a video. The children color while they watch a Bible story. Yesterday the story was Noah's Ark.

At three p.m. Bob and I went to the ice cream social, in the club-house. They serve two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream and there is a large assortment of toppings, for $1.50. We have to get tickets from the office but if we buy 5 tickets, we get them for $6.50, a $1.50 saving. My favorite toppings are caramel and chopped nuts. Bob always goes for chocolate. Some us started playing cards, after we ate our ice cream. There were four players in our group. About 8 p.m. Bob quit and left. Then 3 more of our friends joined us, so then there were 6 of us and we played until 9:30. My partener and I didn't win...but there is always next time...besides we had a lot of fun.

I know that sometimes we as Chistians have miraculous answers to prayer. I have had instant healings and rarely do I have trouble sleeping but sometimes when I have and I have asked God for help, most of the time I barely finish the prayer and I go to sleep. However, God doesn't always take our pain or problem away because according the apostle Paul, he himself had what he called a 'thorn in his side'. He asked God to remove the 'thorn' but the Lord told him in 2 Corinthains 12:9..."My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
Paul said that the 'thorn' kept him humble.

Blessings

It rained a short time last evening and today the sun is shining. Hideway Ponds is a membership resort and most of the members live in Louisiana. Today three couples, who are our friends, are coming in for the weekend. There isn't a band scheduled for Saturday night, in the club-house, so folks will be wining, dining, card playing and/or just having fun. By Saturday afternoon, the park will be nearly full and it has 101 camp sites.

As Christians we need to remember that God is all powerful. It's one of those beautiful days at Hideaway Ponds. As I look out my window, I can see two of the cabins that are used by visitors. They are cute little structures that are a copy of the cabins that the swamp people use to live in, of yesteryear but with modern conveniences. Those early Cajuns, were a hardly breed, living off the land. Most of the men were trappers.

For some reason I got to thinking about forgiveness and how hard that is, sometimes. Someone will hurt us badly, maybe someone we love and the wound cuts us deeply. In my case I learned that I had to talk to the person and 'get it off my chest', then forgiveness came easy. Other times I forgave without confrontation. However it works, forgiveness is necessary for us as Christians, and no-Christians alike, to have peace of mind. Matthew 6:14-15 "If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Sometimes I bring my own books and this is one of those times.

We had shrimp for lunch today. A dear friend, gave us shrimp and oysters. We had visited his wife several times when she was in the hospital. Anyway not being a native born Louisianan, I asked another dear friend, who had at one time a catering service, how to boil the shrimp. She said to boil them for 3 minutes and then to let them set in the hot water for 20 minutes. I want to say they were superb. My smart friend gets the glory, not me.

This instruction from Jesus is sometimes very hard to do. I tell the children, who come to the Bible Story Lady that we are to love everyone but not to trust everyone. Others go fishing in the ponds that border the eastern and southern periphery. Last evening we played cards in the clubhouse with our friends. It is definitely a retiree's dream, come true.

Here is scripture from the old testament. Moses had led the Jewish nation, God's chosen people, out of slavery and toward the Promised Land. He gave Moses the ten commandments on Mount Sinai. I talked with a lady who stated that she didn't go to church because she didn't feel that she was worthy. Maybe that was just an excuse and maybe not. However through the years, I think I have heard them all. Years ago some one said, "I don't go to church because my uncle was such a hypocrite." Hello! How about this, "I don't go to church because I don't want to." Do you think that is probably the truth? Anyway...in 1 John 1:9, you can read this: 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' The truth at times is, [and I have been there too] people don't want to go to church or read a Bible because them they might have to change and change takes effort and is sometimes painful. What do you think? Blessings to all of you.

Good morning from Hideaway Ponds, Louisiana. It has rained here every day for three days and off and on for a week or two. No I'm not going to complain. It was only a short time ago when we were desperate for rain. The cracks, that were in the lawn, have closed in. My little dog Heidi doesn't like the rain and it took some coaxing to get her to take her morning walk.

Here is a scipture about faith, taken from the King James...Luke 17:5 & 6...And the apostles said unto the Lord, increase our faith. And the Lord said, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, be thou plucked up by the root and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you."...What happens when a seed is planted? It grows, so our faith will grow. Do you have a sycamine tree that is in your way, holding you back, a problem that seems impossible for you to solve? Remember the mustard seed. Sometimes you have to let it take root and grow.

You probably think, "yaw what does she know?... she's good at placating but when real problems arise, can she really practice what she preaches." Well my answer is this, I have lived a long life and the experiences of life have taught me many things. I do know this, God answers our prayers when the time is right and when it is best for us. Sometimes, He has to do a work in us, before He will grant what we ask. If you have not gotten your answer, maybe you have not surrendered your life to Him. Is there something that you have in your life that is separating you from Him?

Leviticus 19:18...King James...Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of the people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord. I drove to Baton Rouge, Saturday, to have a book signing. They had copies of my book, Mercy Triumphs already in the store. It was a lovely day for the trip. Later I drove to where the Louisiana Book Festival is going to take place , in Oct. I wanted to check it out ahead of time.

Here is the thought for the day. Luke 23:34..."Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." That was Jesus' pray when he was on the cross. It has been glorious here at Hideaway Ponds, the last few days. The rain has stopped and the air is fresh and clean. As I gaze out through my window, I see the dollar trees that border the east side of the bass pond. We have been visited by families of ducks, that must be cross breeds as the front half of thier bodies are white and the back half dark gray.

This is what Bob and I studied yesterday: Proverbs 4:20-27...My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil... This is from the NIV...What I think this means in a nutshell is, don't let the devil get a stronghold.

Psalms 31:24...Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord... Yes, if we don't repent and try not to do it again but if we fail, we must keep on trying to do what is right. We need to ask God to guard our tongue. Remember in one of my previous posts I gave you scripture about confessing your sins and repenting. So what is a careless word? My husband Pastor Bob writes a sermonette which is printed on the back of the letter.

Good morning. Have you ever wondered why, if you pray and pray for something, God doesn't always answer you? I have had that happen to me. However later I was glad that He hadn't given me what I wanted at the time. You see God can see the beginning to the end. He knew that what I was praying for, at the time, wasn't what was best for me. Here is the scripture for today: Romans 8:28...King James version...And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

Well...now I have time to post something new. It is another beautiful day here at Hideaway Ponds! This park is truely something. The swiming pools, the fishing ponds and the huge club-house, makes this park a place where anyone would like to visit, for rest and recreation. We are privileged, due the Ministry that we provide, to live here.

We had a miracle this last weekend. A man was holding his little grandson and he asked Pastor Bob, my husband to pray for him as he was very sick. I saw as my husband placed his hand on the child, that the child was weak and jaundice. The next day the little boy was completely well and playing in the kiddie pool! Praise God!

Here is a thought for the day...James 5:16 "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual and fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." [This is in the old King James Bible.] And this is from the N.I.V. "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

Day before yesterday, I had to correct eight chapters of my book Patience' Secret, that my editor e-mailed back to me. Do you struggle with this problem? You want to do the right thing but something seems to always get in the way? Well you're not alone. The whole human race has this weakness, however the word of God, the Sword of the Spirit has the answer and here it is. In Ephesians the 6th. chapter, in the NIV version, starting with the 1oth verse, the writer, the apostle Paul tells us this: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breast plate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Thank you God for your mercy!
James 2:13 NIV ...because judgment without mercy should be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. It's beautiful day here in southern Louisiana. We live at Hideaway Ponds Recreational Resort, shaded by ancient oaks, laced with Spanish moss. For a girl who grew up in northwestern Montana, this is paradise! Don't get me wrong, Montana has it's beauty; snow capped mountians, clear flowing streams, clean air and wide open spaces. But when winter comes, it can be from hell!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Isn't that simple. So to be saved and go to heaven, all we have to do is believe! Forget about all the ritualistic works that people put themselves through.
